This blog reports on significant Keyman product and keyboard development updates over the period from 29 April 2024 — 10 May 2024.

Keyman minor releases

Keyman 17.0.316 beta through 17.0.320 beta and Keyman 18.0.24 alpha through 18.0.31 alpha were released in this cycle.

Significant updates in these versions include:

  • Windows: Font Helper no longer crash Keyman (#11282)
  • Linux: easily install keyboards on Ubuntu Budgie (#11292)
  • IOS and macOS: upgraded build support on Apple (#11302)
  • Android: prevented deletion of selected text from freezing predictive text (#11367)
  • Android: invert selected text without crashing Keyman (#11345)
  • Improved longpress up-flick performance (#11306)
  • Fixed some bugs on Keyman Developer (#11352, #11354, #11366)

Keyboard updates

  • Much appreciation to RuneBoard for contributing two new experimental keyboards (#2727):
    • Chorasmian keyboard is capable of typing the East Iranian Chorasmian (Khwarezmian) language in its native script (not to be confused with Khwārazm Turkish).
    • Elymaic keyboard uses the Elymaic script to type the Achaemenid Aramaic language and, possibly, other Aramaic dialects as well.
  • Announcing a new fv_nlakapamuxcheen keyboard; qualified to type the nlakapamuxcheen language of the BC Interior region of Canada. Many thanks, HopsAndHops (#2731, #2739).
  • Freshly out of the box, introducing new keyboards with the help of our team:
  • Credits to rmlockwood for updating both layouts of Balochi Phonetic and Balochi Urdu keyboard (v1.6.1), which are known interfere with Windows function keys (#2725).
  • Khmer (SIL) keyboard (v2.0) has received a layout update, includes extra symbols and characters, and expand usability to mobile (#2712).

Keyboard App Builder updates

Keyboard App Builder 11.3 was released on April 29, 2024, delivering new features and improvements alongside some bug fixes:

  • New features and improvements:
    • iOS App: Include iOS Privacy Manifest in apps.
    • Android SDK: Updated version of Android SDK Tools.
  • Bug fixes:
    • Display markdown syntax for images on the About page.
    • Specify an increment to the version number in command line arguments.

Keyman Update for 5 June 2026

Keyman 19 roadmap update

The March 2026 Keyman 19 roadmap gets a candid mid-year update. An internal review found 363 open issues still assigned to v19. ARM Windows and Mac installer support are on track; CLDR mobile keyboards are postponed. The team is down to 9 — contributions and donations are welcome.
