This blog reports on significant Keyman product and keyboard development updates over the period from 31 March 2025 — 11 April 2025.

Keyman minor releases

Keyman 19.0.19 alpha through 19.0.23 alpha were released in this cycle.

Significant updates in these versions include:

  • Fixed keyboard height setting in Keyman Engine for Android (#13578)
  • Improved keyboard state (#13671)

Keyboard updates

New keyboard

  • Introducing the two experimental keyboards from oyousuf:
  • More experimental keyboards submitted by Cathaylaboratory includes:
    • The Hoisan keyboard is designed for Hòi Sán Vạ Coc Ngũi Tụ 台山話國語字, the Script of National Language for Hoisanese (#3409).
    • The Hong Kong keyboard is made for the Script of National Language for Cantonese of Hong Kong and Canton city accent Oạt Yữ Quóc Yữ Chị Hương Kỏng Thùng Quỏng Châu Yâm粵語國語字香港同廣州音 (#3427).

Enhanced keyboards‌‌‌‌

  • The vietnam keyboard v1.0.5 received new keys generation (#3406, #3435). Credit goes to Cathaylaboratory.
  • The Greek Tonizo keyboard has two version changes, submitted by tonizo2025:
    • v1.0.2 (#3408, #3413):
      • Caps Lock Shift functionality implemented for desktop.
      • Automatic breathings undone in acronyms and numerals in mobiles.
      • Transfer of breathings/accents to 2nd vowel with dialytika undone in mobiles.
      • Help file updates.
    • v1.0.3 (#3429):
      • Removal of automatic breathing from letter numerals (i.e. α, ε, ια, Α, etc) followed by vareia or fullstop.
      • Removal of kbd images from source and source/help directories.
  • The Khmer Angkor keyboard v2.2 has a rule to prevent beep sound (#3436).
  • The Pashai keyboard v1.1 changed the output of “i” to produce U+064A (instead of U+06CC) (#3438).
  • The IPA (SIL) keyboard v2.0.1 received (#3434, #3439):
    • New super and subscript characters 
    • Gestures and Sup/Sub layer for touch layout
    • Documentation for touch layout
    • A Simplified html in the welcome.htm document
    • A usage.htm for description of how to use keyboard in OSK

Keyman Update for 5 June 2026

Keyman 19 roadmap update

The March 2026 Keyman 19 roadmap gets a candid mid-year update. An internal review found 363 open issues still assigned to v19. ARM Windows and Mac installer support are on track; CLDR mobile keyboards are postponed. The team is down to 9 — contributions and donations are welcome.
