This blog reports on significant Keyman product and keyboard development updates over the two week period from 15 April 2024 — 26 April 2024.

Keyman minor releases

Keyman 17.0.309 beta through 17.0.315 beta were released in this cycle.

Significant updates in these versions include:

  • Keyman for iOS:
    • Inserts a space when replacing selected texts (#11179).
  • Keyman for Mac:
    • Handles text replacement responses for first key press location detection (#11190).
  • Mobile web (Android and iOS):
    • Correctly handles the behavior of selected texts and keyboard outputs when switching layers (#11232).
    • Adjusts the timing of multi-tap gestures (#11246).

Keyman 19 roadmap update

The March 2026 Keyman 19 roadmap gets a candid mid-year update. An internal review found 363 open issues still assigned to v19. ARM Windows and Mac installer support are on track; CLDR mobile keyboards are postponed. The team is down to 9 — contributions and donations are welcome.

Keyman 19 alpha (229–236) lands with caps lock and Linux Debian fixes. New keyboards for the Zou and Mising communities join the library, and Lac Viet v3.0 gains Zhuang support. Two new contributors welcomed.
