Keyman minor releases

Keyman 18.0.252-stable was released in this cycle with notable changes:

  • Keyman for Android 18.0.252 addresses a crash for predictive text and we recommend upgrading to this version as soon as possible if you are experiencing this problem. You can update Keyman immediaately in the Play Store app or by visiting keyman.com/android (Keyman will update automatically but that may take longer)
  • Keyman Engine for Android 18.0.252 has been released and this out-of-band change requires an additional import in build.gradle for apps using it. Add: implementation 'androidx.webkit:webkit:1.14.0'. This change is required due to a bug fix relating to a Chrome issue with importScripts and impacts any Keyman Engine for Android dependent app that uses lexical models (See #13862, #16628 for details)

Keyman 19.0.286-alpha through 19.0.293-alpha were also released in this cycle. There are many significant changes:

  • Keyman Developer
    • Trim whitespace from new words in the wordlist editor (#16538)
  • Keyman for iPhone and iPad
    • Improve autocorrection of transposed text, e.g. teh (#16450)
  • Keyman for Android
    • Improve autocorrection of transposed text, e.g. teh (#16450)
    • Suppress autocorrection of hardware keystroke input (#16606)
  • Keyman for Windows
    • Add documentation for ‘Update’ tab (#16544)
  • Keyman for macOS
    • Remove obsolete Keyman Configuration UI (#16570)
  • KeymanWeb
    • Address ‘off’ mode bugs in setKeyboardForControl API (#16524)

BREAKING CHANGES:

  • Keyman Engine for Windows: COM interface changes
    • Added the MCompileForBaseKeyboard(long KLID) COM method to the new IKeymanKeyboardInstalled2 interface, which extends IKeymanKeyboardInstalled. The method accepts the user’s base keyboard ID and allows mcompile to compile all installed keyboard layouts against that keyboard ID (#16162)
    • Added the Install3 COM method, which accepts a base keyboard ID. The base keyboard ID is passed to mcompile during installation so that the keyboard layout can be compiled against the specified base keyboard. Install3 has been added to the following interfaces: IKeymanKeyboardFile3, IKeymanPackageFile3, IKeymanKeyboardsInstalled3, and IKeymanPackagesInstalled3 (#16528)
  • Keyman Engine for Web: API changes
    • deprecated keyman.moveToElement(elem) API (use elem.focus() instead) (#16661)

The full list of updates can be viewed in the version history.
