Keyman Update for 11 October 2024

This blog reports on significant Keyman product and keyboard development updates over the period from 30 September 2024 — 11 October 2024.

Keyman minor releases

Keyman 18.0.119 alpha through 18.0.125 alpha were also released in this cycle.

Significant updates in these versions include:

• Keyman Developer
  • Improved support for text rendering in keyboard debugger (#12464).
  • Displays a warning when importing OSK layout over existing touch layout (#12478).
• Android
  • Optimized settings for predictive text word suggestion (#12443).
• Mac
  • Improvements to handling of right and left option keys (#12458).

Keyboard updates

New keyboards:

• A big thanks to mauruo for creating new keyboards: 
  • Old Sogdian keyboard for the Old Sogdian script (#3127)
  • Cypro-Minoan keyboard for the Cypro-Minoan syllabary (#3128).
• A new Marchen Direct Input keyboard for the Tibetan and Zhang-Zhung languages using the Marchen script (#3133).
• A new Nandinagari Inscript keyboard for the Kannada and Sanskrit languages (#3142). 

Keyboard enhancements:

• Hul̓q̓umin̓um̓ keyboard v9.2: added curly quote, thank you to xyzhelen (#3011).
• For Hebrew keyboards on (#3132)
  • Hebrew (SIL) keyboard v2.0.2: improved display of On Screen Keyboard diacritics on all platforms
  • Hebrew Legacy (SIL) keyboard v1.0.1: improved display of On Screen Keyboard diacritics on all platforms
• Portuguese (Programmers) keyboard v1.0.2: improved layout and translation, thanks to mauruo (#3138, #3140).
• Taigi Viet Telex keyboard v2.0.1: added new keys, show appreciation to Cathaylaboratory (#3137).
• Lipo (SIL) keyboard v1.3: updated to include characters listed in UTN (#3126).

Keyboard App Builder updates

Keyboard App Builder 12.2 was released on October 10, 2024, delivering new features and improvements alongside a bug fix:

• New features and improvements
  • Introducing Feature and Settings Finder.
  • Redesign of the APK tab.
  • More menu item’s icons.
  • New and improved fonts: 
    • Ezra SIL and Ezra SIL SR fonts.
    • Awami Nastaliq v3.300.
  • Project configuration file improvements.
• A bug fix
  • Fixes keyboard registration.
