Keyman Update for 30 Jan 2026

This blog reports on significant Keyman product and keyboard development updates over the period from 22 December 2025 — 30 January 2026.

Keyman minor releases

Keyman 19.0.180-alpha through 19.0.196-alpha were released in this cycle:

  • Handle Enter key in Touch Layout Editor (#15338)
  • Fix custom layer name in Touch Layout Editor (#15371)
  • Prevent duplicate layer name in Layer Properties dialog (#15372)
• Keyman for Linux
  • Newer versions of Keyman won’t be supported on Ubuntu 25.04 Plucky (#15423)
• Keyman for Windows and Android
  • Update Portuguese translation (#15406)

Keyboard releases

New keyboard

• The Malay Jawi keyboard is an Arabic based keyboard for Malay (Jawi) and other Indonesian languages (#3848)
• The NP Gawri (SIL) keyboard is for Gawri language (Arabic script) Layout originally from MSKLC (#3859)
• The tlingityooxatangi keyboard is designed for the T’aku Tlingit Yóo X’átangí language of the Western Subarctic region of Canada (#3858). Thanks to evangaline-fpcc.
• The Teklado Ladino keyboard is a phonetic keyboard for writing Ladino with Merubah and Rashi letters (#3860). Credit goes to julian-vargo.

Improved keyboards

• Thanks to Laitei40 for adding changes to the Mara keyboard v1.0.3 (#3841):
  • Caps Lock behavior using NCAPS/CAPS model
  • Shift + Caps interaction
  • Restored Backspace, Delete, arrow keys, and control keys on Linux and Web
  • Fixed Spacebar.
• The Arabic Phonetic (SIL) keyboard v1.2 add ٱ to Shift + E (#3846)
• The Wyandot keyboard v1.1 introduce a touch layout (#3851)
• Appreciation to tonizo2025, the Greek Tonizo keyboard v1.0.6 has (#3853)
  • Double left and right pointing angles are converted into Greek quotation marks
  • The K_BKQUOTE key produces a U+02BC apostrophe
  • The € symbol is added to the ALT-4 key by analogy to the Shift-4 key for US$
  • Bug fixes.
• The Arabic Phonetic (SIL) keyboard v1.3 add  ٖ , ٗ, ٰ to Shift O, Shift I, and Shift U (#3862).
